Apps

Homebrew for your PS2. Download drops the latest build into the APPS/ folder on the share; each app then appears on OPL's Apps page (via conf_apps.cfg) to launch over the network. ps2sync never writes to the console — it pulls.

Grabs OPL (Daily), wLaunchELF, POPStarter SMB Config, and the PS1 POPStarter core in one go. Then on the PS2: launch OPL (Daily), run POPStarter SMB Config once, and your PS2 + PS1 games all appear over ethernet.

Re-fetch box art for any games missing a cover.

PlayStation 1 (POPStarter)

Your PS1 games are already converted to .VCD in POPS/. To boot them, the PS2 also needs the POPStarter core (the PlayStation-1 emulator + launcher) in POPS/. One click fetches it from public mirrors and ps2sync builds a per-game launcher so each title shows on OPL's PS1 Games page over the network.

Removes PS1 "games" under 50 MB — stray data files from a bad archive, not real discs.

These are Sony's PS1 emulator files, mirrored by the homebrew community — use them for a console you own.

Use your own POPS files instead

Drop the individual files (POPS.ELF, IOPRP252.IMG, POPS_IOX.PAK, POPSTARTER.ELF), or a .7z of them.

On the PS2 — set up POPStarter (over ethernet, no USB)

POPStarter needs an SMB config on the PS2's memory card. ps2sync can write it for you over the network via wLaunchELF's FTP server — no memory-card typing, no config tool, no USB.

  1. Run an OPL Daily Build and wLaunchELF (download both above; launch from OPL's Apps page).
  2. In wLaunchELF: SELECT → Network Settings → set the PS2's IP (note it) → Save. Then MISC → PS2Net to start its FTP server (an IP shows at the top of the screen).
  3. Enter that PS2 IP below and click Push config to PS2 — ps2sync FTPs SMBCONFIG.DAT + IPCONFIG.DAT into mc0:/POPSTARTER/ for you.
  4. Back in OPL's Apps page, launch a PS1 title — POPStarter reads the config and boots the .VCD over ethernet.

Needs this server's LAN IP set (Setup guide) — it goes into the config as your SMB server. If a PS1 game drops you back to the file manager, the config didn't land — re-check the PS2 IP and that PS2Net is running.
